Total pain in the a**

First off, I want to say how thankful I am to be pregnant. And I really hate to complain about symptoms when I know some women would give everything they own to be miserable and pregnant:).

Saying that, for the past few days, I have been sidelined with the worst shooting pain in my butt/left lower back. At it's worst, I actually see stars! I did some research b/c I thought maybe I had done something to myself, but turns out it's just my uterus/baby putting pressure on the sciatic nerve. Of all the cruel things to do to a pregnant woman:). It's worst in the morning (after sleeping all night) and if I sit for long periods of time. I feel ancient because I'm hobbling around the house holding my lower back.

Some things I've read say that if it shows up early, it could mean it will go away early. I'm holding out hope that these articles are right. Seems pretty common for lots of pregnant women, though (if people's comments on my FB page are any indication).

At my next appt. I'm going to mention it to the dr. to see if she has any special remedies.

On another depressing note, I'm going out to buy some "big girl" (as I like to call them) pants/shirts today. I feel like I'm busting out of all my regular clothes, even with the unbuttoned/hair tie trick. Maybe this will make me feel better about my body image. I had a bit of an emotional breakdown yesterday (lucky DH!) about how fat I feel. It's really hard gaining weight and feeling puffy. I'm up 2lbs. as of today, but yesterday was lots of bad/carby eating (french toast was calling my name!). I keep telling myself I'm pregnant and this is kind of what's supposed to happen, but it still doesn't make weight gain any easier.

Layla - CF Mom

This one looks right up my alley! :) My three favorite things (except I can't do pull-ups, so it'll be ring rows).

Warm-Up:
2 dog walks (depending on the weather)
4 x 200m sprints (might be jogs, but I'm going to try to sprint) -- 6mph x 1, 7mph x 3
10 KTC's
10, 45# shoulder press
10, 20# KB swings

"Layla": Advanced
5 rounds of -
10 pull ups (subbing ring rows)
10 push ups (5th round, knee push-ups)
10 squats

Time: 10:49

Post WOD - STRETCH! I haven't been stretching at all and I know I really need to, now more than ever.

Felt like I was going at a snails pace, but I was so out of breath! I'm always worried that the baby might not be getting enough oxygen, but it's hard to not listen to that voice urging you to push yourself and do just one more rep.

I wonder if I'll get used to not pushing myself after 7 or so months of this and then will have a hard time with motivation after the pregnancy. I guess it's just something to keep in mind for later on.

Warm-Up/Calisthenics

Decided to take it easy today, that 45# felt like a ton for some reason. Oh, and here's me at 13 weeks. Be ready for lots of expanding belly pics (this is my first baby after all. I have to enjoy these while I can! :)haha)

10 Push-Ups
20 lunges
20 Sit-Ups
3, 45# thrusters
7, 45# push press
10, 45# good mornings
20, 20# KB swings

Another good day today, mood & body-wise. I really have to get my eating in line, though. I ate sherbet AND dark chocolate today, so it was a bit of a bad snacking day for me (although, not as bad as some days recently!!). Still only up 1lb. but I think that has more to do with muscle loss than anything else. My body measurements have increased dramatically (somewhat due to baby, somewhat due to lack of muscle tone).

CF Mom 1.25.10

Seems like Mondays are always my good days:). I'm really feeling good today. Slight headache, but nothing unmanageable. I'm in a really good mood, too! Hubby is sick, so I'm trying to take care of him without really getting too exposed to the germs. I've never been a germ-a-phobe, actually the opposite, but being pregnant, I don't want to take any chances. Weird how your outlook changes even BEFORE the baby arrives:)!

Warm-Up:
2.5 min. run/walk on treadmill
10 push-ups
10 KTC's
5 ring dips (2 bands)
5, 45# shoulder press
10, 45# good mornings

Intermediate: 1.25.10 (cfmom.com)
4 rounds
500m row (subbing 0.3 mile run/walk)
7 DB thrusters #20 (subbing 7, 45# thrusters)

Time:

I've had some pain in my left lower back/butt lately, it's quite sharp some days. I'm going to start practicing strengthening my pelvic floor and hope this helps. It's WAY too early to be having pains like this for me:).

-----

Skipped the WOD, and just did the warm-up. I'll do the actual workout tomorrow.

Push-ups & Shoulder Presses

Did a small workout tonight. I cooked a big pot of yummy soup (not exactly paleo, but close), so after that and washing the dishes, I was tired:). Pathetic.

2 Rounds:
10 push-ups
5, 45# shoulder press
10, 45# good mornings

I can't seem to get enough milk lately. Normally I hate the taste of milk, so I've been adding chocolate syrup to it. It makes me feel guilty adding the syrup, but it's so good. :)

NT Scan

My legs are SORE from those back squats and all the stairs:).

I had an NT scan done yesterday afternoon. It's a scan where they look for chromosomal abnormalities such as down syndrome. All looked good and baby was doing acrobats during the scan. I think we might have an active little one if the ultrasounds are any indication! He/she finally settled and the tech was able to get a good look at the tube behind the neck. All measured well within the normal range, so that was a relief. I'll have to wait a week for the official results, though.

Dinner with my mom tonight, so I'm hoping to at least get a dog walk in with a few shoulder presses. But I might be feeling up to a CF Mom workout. I'll post again later with what I decided to do.

My diet has been a little wonky lately. I can't seem to keep away from the carb heavy stuff. I feel so much better after eating the healthy food, but getting it down is the problem. I'm going to try to keep the carbs to a minimum tonight at dinner, but we'll see what actually looks appetizing!

Dog Walk, SP & Back Squat

<--The belly at 12 weeks.

2 dog walks
5, 45# shoulder press
10, 45# back squat

The dog walks had me huffin' & puffin':). It's weird how out of breath I get so quickly now. Even walking up the 2 flights at work, it never had me winded before, but now I have to take a few deep breaths at the top just to catch my breath. This pregnancy thing sure is strange in many ways:).

CF Mom 1.13.10

My goal is to work out every Monday, Wednesday & Friday for now. I hope I can keep this up because the workout on Monday made me feel AMAZING! It's nice to be sore again after so long of slothery:).

We had our second check-up yesterday and had another ultrasound. It was awesome! The baby was swimming all around in there. It was so cool to look at. Heartbeat and size look great for where we are, so that was a relief. We announced the news to everyone yesterday and received tons of well wishes and support. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.

Oh, down another pound, so I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight today. I was a little low on calories yesterday, though, so I should go back up a pound or two if I can get the required calories.

Warm-Up:
5 min. walk
10 KTC's
10 Push-Ups

CF Mom: Intermediate
4 rounds
10 shoulder press #45
10 ring rows

Time:

Didn't do this Tuesday or Wednesday. Hopefully tonight (Thursday)?

"Reagan", 11 weeks

I'm hoping to get in my first real work-out tonight. It's been about, oh, I don't know, 5 -6 weeks since I've done anything other than just push-ups, sit-ups or squats.

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and tomorrow is our second appt. with the OB. I'm hoping everything still looks normal/healthy. We'll start announcing to extended family and close friends this week if everything checks out. Exciting and scary!! :)

I'm up 2 lbs. as of this morning. I'm trying to ease back into paleo, so I'm hoping this will keep the weight down. My goal is 1 lb. in the first trimester, 6 lbs. in the second, and 12 lbs. in the third. That would give a total gain of 19-20lbs. for the pregnancy. Definitely ambitious:). But it's a place to aim.

Warm-Up:
5 min. walk
10 Ring Rows
10 KTC's
5, 45# shoulder press

"Reagan": Advanced
21-15-9
Push ups
Lunges
Hang power cleans #45 (12-9-6)

Time: 9:54

Phew, I am OUT OF SHAPE! I couldn't believe how out of breath I got so quickly. And my strength is sapped. The shoulder presses were very difficult as were the hang power cleans and I had to scale that back further.

Feeling good to actually have done SOMETHING physical today, though! I'm proud I was actually able to drag my butt off the couch:).

10 Weeks

Well, I'm starting to feel somewhat more human now, although, the food aversions are still pretty strong (weirdly enough, pizza is the worst and it's ALWAYS on tv!). My nausea has really improved in the last few days, so for that, I am thankful. Still extremely tired. I took a little nap/rest yesterday from 4pm-5pm, which I NEVER do, but I needed it.

Finally got off the couch to do a short warm-up. I planned to get on the treadmill as well, but it didn't happen.

20 Push-ups
30 Sit-ups
30 Squats

I've been trying to eat healthier and I am anxiously awaiting the day I can go back to paleo. I'm worried about putting on too much weight and I know paleo will keep this at bay plus get the baby as many nutrients as possible. It's weird, but I used to bruise REALLY easily, like I would have bruises on my legs from where I rested my knees on them in sleep. However, on paleo, this went away completely, no more bruising. I've noticed since being pregnant that the bruising is back. Another wonderful benefit of paleo eating:).

As of today, I'm up 1 lb., but some days it's 2 lbs.
